I prefer phpBB. vBulletin seems to be too resource hungry on the client end perhaps on the server end too.

If I have the cash to spend for it, I prefer VB but if I have not SMF and phbBB are scripts that can still work for me.

If you have a good budget, you may use vbulletin or IPB, both are good and preferable forum scripts.
